Vitamin
E (Alpha tocopherol) - is a major anti-oxidant in the body. Because
it is lipid soluble, Vitamin E is present in cell membranes. It reacts
at the site where lipid peroxides are generated and acts as a chain breaking
anti-oxidant. It is also a powerful anti-oxidant proven to be effective
at protecting skin from environmental and UVB photo damage, providing
anti-radical protection and increasing the efficacy of sunscreens by as
much as 30%. When used with vitamins C and A, the anti-oxidant properties
become more potent due to the synergistic effects. |
