Physicians customize skincare against age spots with a hydroquinone-free brightening alternative.

The proposed Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ban on hydroquinone has sent consumers looking for safe skin lightening alternatives to physicians to remove age spots on their skin. Now physicians are offering safe hydroquinone-free products to consumers.

FDA considers that over-the-counter serums and lotions are not generally recognized as safe and effective and are misbranded. The FDA also intends to consider all prescription hydroquinone products to be new drugs requiring an approved new drug application for continued marketing. Hydroquinone has already been banned in Japan, much of the European Union and Africa. While effective in the removal of melanin, hydroquinone may pose a risk for cancer and in other cases, cause a rare skin disease that results in a blue-black discoloration called ochronosis.

Fortunately, many of these doctors are able to provide their patients with PRESCRIBEDsolutions [Customized Skincare], an entire range of skin brightening products – without hydroquinone – from night creams to cleansers that can be adapted in a physician’s office with bio-engineered and botanical brightening agents that significantly lessen hyperpigmentation, where skin becomes darker in color than the normal surrounding skin.

Suggested regimen for hyperpigmentation concerns:

Starting Up / Face™ Glycolic Anti-Oxidant Cleanser with Brightening Booster

Radical Results™ Anti-oxidant Serum C + E with Brightening Booster

Bolt of Lightening™ Skin Brightening Serum with Anti-oxidant Booster

Correction Fluid™ Anti-aging Night Cream with Brightening Booster

In addition to other ingredients, PRESCRIBEDsolutions products contain a clinically proven, innovative new enzyme inhibitor, called SynoveaTM HR Hexylresorcinol that in in-vivo trials have proven to be as efficacious a lightening agent as 2% hydroquinone though without the safety concerns. It is has been used for many years in oral products, on skin and as a fresh fruit preservative. A Bolt of Lightening™ Skin Brightening Serum is the first cosmeceutical to use this ingredient as a skin lightening agent.

“It’s understandable that patients are very concerned by this FDA warning,” says David Avram, M.D. a prominent New York dermatologist. “Hydroquinone-free alternatives like PRESCRIBEDsolutions customized with potent brightening ingredients by their physician is very effective way of addressing hyperpigmentation. Patients should consult with their dermatologist to find out which skin products are safe alternatives,” added Dr. Avram.
